Artists in Communities: "The Artistry of Balkan Singing"
TRIBUTES
- I have loved the beautiful weaving of harmony in the Koutev arrangements of songs; what a privilege to learn and sing Dragana! Tzvetanka is a graceful embodiment of the feelings in the songs. As an alto, I appreciated a workshop comment - we have a sound that is fluid and supports the soloists like a river makes the rocks shine like gems! Michele is a gifted teacher. She encourages us to warm up, partly to find out what our voices bring to the session, not just to get a better sound. We work with what we have. Such wisdom, grace and beauty that came together in our sessions together! Thank you, Jan, for all your work pulling this together!
- I would like to send a tribute to Tzvetanka for her teaching and musicianship in sharing her wonderful Bulgarian singing and culture. Her singing is just fabulous.
- Thank you to Shira Cion for her leadership of Kitka throughout the years. Kitka is truly a wonderful and talented group. Also, thank you to Jan Volkoff and Zado for making this project possible and for serving not only people in Sacramento but others worldwide!
- What a treat this was to be connecting and singing with the talented Michele and Tzvetanka! I have been so down because of the COVID restrictions and have not had a chance to sing with others. So this was really nice to connect with other singers and participate. Making my virtual choir video was hard, but I was blown away by the resulting whole choir final products! Wow!!!
- Tribute to Koutev and his great arrangements of Bulgarian folk songs and music.
- I was glad to participate. Appreciate all the work that everyone put into it.
